People who have accession to the world-wide network and pay for it are the internet users. Certain percentage of people may not be direct payers yet have reception to the internet like those who work in office, school, colleges, cyber cafe, home etc.
There is extensive usage of internet all over the world. As per market reports in 2011, there was a greater internet usage in developed countries, average 70% as compared to the citizens of developing countries accounting for 25% of internet users. Nationals of countries like Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden nationals were found to be the ultimate internet users forecasting about 90%.
It is found that the metropolitan residents have a greater reach and afford the internet than the country-side inhabitants and as a result some countries lag behind in technology, research, and scientific arenas due to the unequal distribution of the World Wide Web.
One of the significant reasons is the low accessibility of internet in certain countries due to low fixed broadband access. There is a possibility that with the commencement of high-speed mobile internet facility in distant areas, the distribution of internet access may be made more balanced and everybody will be able to explore the internet.
